We are looking for hotel or BB in center of Florence, in walking distance to most places and close to train to get to airport early morning. Nice view would be great too. Visiting Florence in September. Please share your experience, thank you!
The center of Florence is loaded with hotels of all price ranges and styles. What is your budget (in euros - "moderate price" means different things to different people), and what, besides a view, are you looking for - elevator, balcony, ensuite bath, included breakfast?
There is no train to the Florence airport. There is a bus, or you can take a taxi.
Have you looked at Booking.com or one of the comprehensive websites on accommodations? The large Italian cities have an incredible number of hotels in their city centers.
I filter the search from low to high prices and then look for customer recommendations that are substantially higher than other like priced places. I've never been dissatisfied.
Anything within one km (0.6 miles) from the Duomo is a good location.
The airport is 4 miles from the city center. Take a taxi (under €30 even with night surcharges)
Thank you! We are 2 couples (in 50) looking for cute place where we can feel like we are in Italy. Breakfast not important for us - we would like to sit outside in the morning and watch people. I would like to spend about 220/night. I didn't know that is no train to airportort - thank you for letting me know!
Have you considered the hotels recommended in Rick’s guidebooks? Note that the 2017 Florence & Tuscany guidebook lists considerably more places to sleep and eat than does the Florence section of the 2017 Best of Italy guidebook (now limited to places in the very heart of the historic district).
I like Hotel il Bargellino (not to be confused with B&B il Bargello), which now appears only in the 2017 Florence & Tuscany guidebook. It’s an easy walk to the train or bus station for bus to airport and has a very nice large shared terrace for relaxing. Three of their rooms have direct access to the terrace.
We went to Florence last month and stayed at Hotel l'Orologio in the Santa Maria Novella piazza. There are several hotels right in this area and we loved our hotel. We got the duplex room because it has a terrace and looks right at the Duomo from the bedroom. We loved the neighborhood because it's walking distance from the train station and also to al of the sights. The view from the breakfast room was incredible as well. If you look on trip advisor you can search all the hotels in this area.
Il Salotto di Firenze is a B&B right near the Duomo that gets great reviews on Trip Advisor and this forum. Based on those reviews, I booked it for a stay in Florence this June. The rates seemed very reasonable to me. I've emailed the proprietor a couple of times with questions, since making the booking, and he has always gotten back to me and provided a helpful answer. We're looking forward to our stay!
