We're getting the Florence Card and I know it covers the Pitti Palace. My question is can we bypass the long entrance line of regular ticket holders like we can at the Uffizi? The RS book "Florence and Tuscany" 2012 on page 239 discusses reservations (cheap). Anyone have some recent experience they can share on this subject?
We were just in Florence about three weeks ago. The Uffzi and especially the Academia had very long lines. The Pitti, like the Plazzo Vechio, had no lines worth speaking of. I saw no separate line for groups or pass holders. Perhaps if it gets crowded they start a separate line? But from what we saw there was no need. By the way, the line pass function at the Acadamia is very uncomfortable feeling. You walk in through an entrance that says reserved and bust into the security line from there. No one at the security station asks to see your special ticket or pass and there is no one at the door.
We did not experience much of a line at the Pitti palace. It's not in any way like the Uffizi or Accademia. Also, the Boboli gardens is on the hill behind the palace. For us, it was nothing exciting.
