Florence Card & Entrance to the Ufffizi

The Florence Card at 50 Euros would be a good deal for me and the card's web site (www.frienzecard.it) says it covers the Uffizi and that you don't have to queue in line just go up to the entrance (I presume the line for those with reservations). Anyone out there done this? I want this trip (a 65th birthday gift to my sister) to go smoothly (well as can reasonably be expected ha ha).

Marie....my husband and i just got back from Florence this week. We did not buy the Florence card. We were there for three days and booked 3 tours for the first day that we were there. We did "Walking Tour of Florence", the" Uffitzi" tour and the "Academia David" tour, all in one day. It worked out well. We realized by booking these that you go right to the head of the lines and get in immediately. We liked that plan as lines were already forming. The tours were with Artviva and our guide Brenda was great.

I'm in Florence right now and purchased the Florence Card. It covers entry into more museums than you could possibly visit and public transport. At the museums, you can avoid the lines (walk right in) and you don't need reservations. It saved us a lot of time!

Another alternative is to join Friends of the Uffizi (Amici degli Uffizi, I think, although I could have the spelling wrong), for about 50-60 Euro. I joined by e-mail before leaving and just picked up the card on arrival in Florence. It allows you into Uffizi and other state museums as many times as you want and I found it be incredibly useful. I was able to visit 4 times (a couple of extended visits and a couple of short visits when I was in the area). I could be wrong up I think the Florence card only lets you into each museum once.
