Florence card... do we still have to wait in line? (also, is the rome card worth it?)

Hi again - question on the florence card - in the description of buying the florence card, it said we just go to a separate entrance and can pay for any of the children right there. Have any of you done florence with the florence card before? Are we able to skip the lines with this, or should we still book a time to get into some of the more popular places (i.e. david, etc).
.. also is the rome card worth it? I have been reading up on it, but I seem to be getting a couple of different answers on the effectiveness of the card. We already have the hop on hop off bus booked, so we don't need to use the transportation part of it. Can we skip the lines with the rome card, or do we need to stand in line even with the card? (specifically looking to the colosseum with this).
... are there another places that we should try to get tickets ahead to skip the line in rome (already booked the vatican/museums).

... and one more random question - my understanding is that St. Peters Basillica is free? Is there still a line to see the pieta and climb the dome? Do I need to pre buy tickets for any of these once in the basilica?

Thanks so much everyone - your advice has been invaluable on my earlier questions - we are getting SO EXCITED for our trip!!
Have a great day :)

Roma Pass: this thread should be helpful….

https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/rome-card-worth-it-has-anyone-actually-got-one-and-what-did-you-get-for-it

...but the tall and short of it is that if you don't intend to use it for public transport, it's not a good buy. Pre-purchasing tickets for the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine on the coopculture website will allow you to skip the ticket line but not the security-check lines: everyone - tickets or passes - must go through those:

Pre-reservations at Galleria Borghese are required, if you have that one on your list:

There is a separate line at the Colosseum for Roma Card and prepurchase ticket holders. But if you're not using public transportation at all, the potential savings of a Roma Card probably don't pencil out.
