I will be going to Florence in November when the sun sets at 4:45 pm. Following Rick Steves itinerary in his guidebook, I will be going up the Campanile in the dark. Is this a good time to see Florence from that view? Or should I go up during the day light?
We have only been up there in daytime but I will bet it is beautiful at night.
I was on top of the Campanile right at sunset on a crisp, clear fall day once. The sun goes down behind you, and shines on the Dome. Probably one of the top 10 most beautiful things I've ever seen. When in November, exactly? Sunset in Florence is 5:04 pm on 11/1 and 4:40 on 11/30. And being 300 ft up might even add a few minutes.
