My son and I are stopping in Florence for the day on our way down to Rome from Venice on June 22nd. I'm wondering if we should book a late night train to Rome or if things quiet down in Florence enough to justify leaving earlier and have dinner in Rome after checking in. Some cities are bustling all hours of the day, while others can be veritable ghost towns past 8pm. What's the vibe in Florence?
If it's going to be like the spring of 2020 it's gonna be pretty dead, even before 8pm.
If instead it is the way it was last June 2023, you'll have a hard time walking through the crowds even long past midnight. Think of NY Times Square on Dec. 31. That is the city center of Florence in the evenings in June, till very late at night.
It was hopping at night when we were just there! We stayed by Piazza Santo Spirito and it was quite loud until 1am at least!
