Florence Baptistry Ticket Question

Am I correct in my reading that in buying the combo-ticket for the Duomo, Baptistry, etc. the ticket must be purchased within 6 days of my anticipated entrance date? If that is the case, I'm thinking of buying my ticket inside the cathedral or by the bell tower door. Many thanks!

The ticket that you refer to is €10, and it covers admission to the Baptistery, the dome climb, the Campanile, and the Duomo Museum, although the museum was completely closed when we were there 3 weeks ago (Rick's book indicates some rooms are open; that was not the case for us). The Duomo (the cathedral itself) is free, and I'm not sure they sell tickets there. I would advise going to the Centro Arte e Cultura on the north side of the Baptistery (Piazza di San Giovanni 7) to buy tickets, because they can advise you about what is open and because there is never a line--the entrance to the Centro is not terribly obvious and I think people miss it.

The dome, the Campanile, and the Baptistery are all open, as is the cathedral. The Baptistery is heavily and colorfully scaffolded, but open. I would not buy tickets online ahead of time--it's easy to get them at the Centro.

The above response is on target. To add a little more - here's a hint to find ticket stand. Find the scaffold covered Baptistery first. Walk around to the North side. Stand there and look across the "square" to the shops, etc.. You will see a sign for the ticket office. Just follow the sign by walking down a short passageway. The word for ticket office in Italian is biglietteria. Ciao!
