Florence Apt or hotel

my daughter and I will spend a week in Florence in May (doing day trips, etc) We would like to find a small apt or lg room/suite, that isn't ridiculously expensive...yet near the center of things...Is this a fantasy?

You might look at VRBO.com. I had good luck finding apartments in both Florence and Rome. If you find something you like, remember what Rick says, "Everything in Italy is negotiable."
