Florence and Tuscany Accommodations - City Hotel or Farmhouse?

Thoughts on where to stay in Florence/Tuscany.
Have 3 nights in the itinerary for this leg. Will arrive late afternoon on Day 1 (train from Amalfi Coast), Day 2/3 open, Day 4 depart afternoon for Venice.

I like the idea of a farmhouse or similar, with a day trip into Florence vs. hotel in Florence with a day trip to wine tour. 1 full day of wine tours is a must.

Full trip Itinerary
Fly into Rome, 3 nights. Train to Amalfi Coast, 2 nights (I know this out of the way, but it on wife's bucket list). Train to Florence, 3 nights. Train to Venice, 2 nights. Flight out of Venice

One thing to consider is that many/most agriturismos have a Saturday-to-Saturday stay requirement, so that will narrow down your potential accommodations. I've stayed at Fonte de Medici, which is more flexible - https://fontedemedici.it/en.html. It doesn't have the family-owned feel of many farmstays, but it's a beautiful property and reasonably close to Florence.

If you're staying in the countryside, you'll need to rent a car or hire a driver. Public transport in Tuscany outside the major cities and towns (Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa) is sparse to nonexistent.

I'll echo what smay665 said. And be aware of the blood alcohol limits for drivers in Italy. They take drunk driving seriously, so self driving for winery tours is a bad idea unless you have a designated driver. Given the short stay, the need for a car for agriturismos, and your desire for a wine tour, and that the trains will arrive and depart from Florence, I'd recommend staying in Florence and taking one of the wine tours available.
