I know some people think Florence deserves a lot more time then what we are giving it and our side trips that we want to do. I saw some people recently post in the Sienna vs Florence thread that seem to maybe have my same thoughts. we are two people traveling for the first time to Italy and we are not into Art and Museums that much..nor fancy shopping..so I am thinking our time in Florence will be GREAT, but we can afford time for some day trips and seeing the country side. We have 4 nights/4 days (as the 5th day we leave early for Venice). These are the place/attractions/sights we would like to see in FLORENCE, besides just walking around enjoying the atmosphere. 1. Duomo as well as climb stairs - need to look at combo ticket with ( tour or combo ticket with Campanile) 2. Campanile di Giotto - Stairs to Campanile - - could do at night on friday or saturday 7 to 11pm 2. Piazza della Signoria 4. Bridge to Piazzale Michelangelo (twilight - maybe at twilight?) - walk 30 min or bus 12 or 13 5. Accademia (Tickets in advance) - probably 30 to 45 minutes max 6. Just enjoy walking around eating dinner, watching people etc. Maybe - 7. Rick stoves walk tour since we will be walking the area anyway 7. Battistero San Giovanni
8. Giardino di Boboli 9. Mercato Cetnral Market - 7 am to 2pm See next post as this was too long!
My post was too long.. 2nd Part WE were looking at 4 days Arrival day (either arrive in Florence around 10:00am if straight from Vernazza or later like 12 or 1... depends on if we stop in Pisa. Thoughts so far: 1. Arrival day - walk the town of Florence. Maybe a 2 hour intro tour. Or just on our own - start on our list above for the must do's. The three full days after that we were thinking of doing the following: 1. Sienna and San Gimignano tour (there are a few companies we can use - or one with Pisa if we want to skip Pisa on our own and get to Florence faster) 2. 500 touring club tuscany driving which would be from 1130 am to 4pm and go here Impruneta, Chiocchio in Chianti and strada in Chianti. So we would be in florence seeing before and after that time 3. Possible bike ride in Tuscany - (different part then the driving tour) Of course I would love to fit LUCCA in, but I am sure I just want to see it ALL!!) Any suggestions on the above would be great. How does the timing look and suggestions on itinerary?
Anyway to fit in Lucca, Sienna, San Gimi... and Pisa..or am I just crazy. AND need to go back.
