Is there an easy connection between Florence Peretola Airport and the train station at Rifredi? Bus or taxi? Might save us some time and effort if we didn't have to go into Santa Maria Novella on our ways between the airport and Lucca.

Are you in that big of a hurry to get to Lucca? Rifredi is about 3-4km closer to the airport than SMN. Probably the only way to get there is by taxi. Should be about 20E plus a supplemental for luggage. I would estimate a taxi fare to SMN to be 25Euro plus supplemental. A thought to consider is that all trains to Lucca originate in SMN. By Rifredi, which is the next stop, the train already has a bunch of passengers. These trains normally don't run full but you never know. Besides, these are all Regionale trains and you can stand if all of the seats are taken. Alternatively, there is a Lazzi (Viabus) from the airport to the Lucca center. I'm not able to bring up the schedule to see the frequency or fare. Also, I'm not sure where you catch it although I'm sure somebody there at the airport could tell you where. I suspect it would be near the Volainbus stop which goes from the airport to the SITA bus station.

Thanks for this helpful info. The Viabus from Lucca is not something we knew about and may be helpful.
