Hello! Has anyone tried any of Rick's suggestions for hotels in Florence? There are so many, I don't know where to start! For me, location location location is everything! Any suggestions!
Thanks
we stayed at bellevue house , not far from the train station and walking distance to all of the attractions.
very nice , would go back again. good luck :):)
For how long? Short stays, hotels or B&B's; a week or more, apartments. I've spent a week or more in most Italian cities and can make some apartment recommendations, but I'm not good for hotels; others will have excellent hotel recommendations for you.
Hello! We are just going through Florence for 3 days, we like hotel/BB style economy with Breakfast included - or no Breakie if the hotel is great. Thanks!
Erin
Erin, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about B&B DeiMori in May, 2010. Suzanne is wonderful, so helpful and considerate, a real sweetheart! We also enjoyed visiting with other guests in the lounge. We requested Doubles with bathroom down the hall but were upgraded to Db because they were available! The location is perfect too. All in all a wonderful experience!
Just spent 25 days in Italy and 3 nights in Firenze. Your search is over. We stayed at La Signoria di Firenze B&B and it was great. The best location in Florence. Right around the corner from La Piazza de la Signoria and the leather market. A one minute walk to the Uffizi and two minutes to the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. Nice breakfast buffet, great hostess and a clean, quiet, comfortable room. We paid 99E for a couple. This was an excellent value and will stay here again. Read the reviews on trip advisor. Here is their web site. http://www.lasignoriadifirenze.it/en/index.php
We loved Hotel Alessandra. It is right by the ponte vecchio, extremely convenient to everything, tucked away. The service is magnificent. It is not too expensive and it is clean and charming with a good breakfast.
I spent four nights at the Soggiorno Battistero in Florence last June - I believe I paid about 80 euros for a single room which included breakfast served in my room. If you want location, you can't beat it - my room looked out onto the Baptistry and the Duomo - my room had double-paned windows so noise was never a problem. The only drawback was the climb up several flights of stairs but since I usually stayed out all day and only had to make the climb once a day, it really wasn't a big deal.
"I've spent a week or more in most Italian cities and can make some apartment recommendations..." Whatcha got for Florence apartments Dennis? Need something sleeping 3.
Hi Erin, My sister and mother stayed in Florence this past November at the Hotel Bretagna based on advice I recieved on this RS Helpline. They enjoyed their stay and added that the staff was very friendly. www.hotelbretagna.net Paul
We stayed at Hotel Calziouli. Loved it half way between the Duomo and piaza signoria. We got great rates with eurobookings.com and wit the hotel directly by email. Breakfast was great eggsa nd bacon and fruit and cereals
I have to agree with Sandi in recommending Soggiorno Battistero. You cannot beat the location. We stayed there several years ago. Very clean and Kelly, one of the owners, was very helpful with reservations and recommendations. The only drawback is the amount of stairs to get up to the BnB. There is no elevator.
in december i just stayed in the katti house...listed in rick's book...close to duomo and train station...within a block plenty of places to eat, wine bar, irish pub, grocer, laundromat...
My recommendation would be to check out B&B Novecento. It's on a side street just off the piazza del Duomo, small but cozy (they only have 4 rooms) and the best part is the terrace which offers the most amazing view of the Duomo, so close it feels like you can reach out and touch it. Franco will pour you some chianti with a plate of prosciutto to enjoy while you marvel at the view. In the offseason his prices are great (80 euro for a double with private bath) but I think they go up in the high season. http://www.bbnovecentofirenze.it/index.php
Erin,
When part of Rick's "Heart of Italy" tour two years ago, our group stayed at the Hotel Torre Guelfa. It was lovely, and it has a very tall tower that is accessible to guests. The views and photos from the top of the tower will always hold special memories for us (which is what travel is all about). Our bathroom was the "footprint" of the tower, with huge thick walls (really neat) and HUGE curved windows that opened and gave the most wonderful view of the quiet street. I think we had one of the nicest rooms (by luck). Breakfast area and living room area of the hotel is also lovely. Check out the hotel's photos and also photos posted by various visitors on www.tripadvisor.com (you can also checkout user reviews for most all Florence hotels there, too). We also stayed at the Il Guelfo Bianco on our early fly-in day, and it was also very nice. Nice woodwork in the room, pretty courtyard type breakfast area. Staff at both hotels were very nice and helpful. Torre Guelfa seemed to be better located, and its history is special, too. Can read about on their website. Enjoy your trip!!
