Hi Val and Mark. My husband I stayed at Residenza il Villino in 2010 and we really enjoyed it. We asked for a room with a view of the duomo and they gave us one. The breakfast was delicious (great cappuccino!). The small courtyard was a pretty place to sit and relax. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. We recommended il Villino to friends a few years ago and they told us they enjoyed their stay. We ate a restaurant nearby that il Villino recommended (Acquacotta) and liked it so much we went back a second night. Enjoy Florence and Happy Anniversary!

Florence isn't like a seaside or lakeside resort town that largely closes down during the late fall/winter. Its wealth of "indoor" attractions (museums, churches, historic buildings, etc) can keep tourists plenty busy during the off-season...if there is such a thing anymore! :O)

For hours and ticketing for the Italian State Museums, see this site;
https://www.b-ticket.com/b-ticket/uffizi/default_eng.aspx.html

Click on the name of each (blue text) for an info panel to pop up.

You'll find hours for some of the churches here:
https://www.visitflorence.com/florence-churches/

For the Duomo and related structures:
https://duomo.firenze.it/en/home

And because you'll be staying in Florence for more than a couple of days, you might benefit from the Firenzecard:
https://www.firenzecard.it/en

I'd definitely take advantage of the free, 48-hour restart add-on to the regular 72-hour card. The card allows you a single entry to the attractions it covers, and you do need to make advance reservations to a few of the most-visited museums, such as the Uffizi, so read through the FAQs carefully. It doesn't cover any of the structures in the duomo complex. The 72-hour (+ 48 hour restart, if using it) validity clock starts ticking from the time you visit your first attraction so if you've purchased the card and have started to use it, you don't want to, say, take a day trip outside of Florence during the validity period.

There are some other combo ticket/pass options to some of the attractions but if you think you'll want to visit quite a number of Florence's treasures, the Firenzecard + the one of the 3 passes available for the duomo complex is probably your best bet.
