Hello, Fellow Travelers: I am having a devil of a time trying to book a room with two beds for 2 people in Florence. What area should I be looking for and could you provide some help with hotels or B&B you stayed at and liked??? All help will be most appreciated.
Price range would be 150.00 American with a lift.

Virgina, have done this recently for my wife and daughter who will be visiting Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Assisi and Rome later this year. For Florence, it was the Tourist House Ghiberti. This is a top-rated B&B about 2 blocks behind il Duomo. Also, many places that advertise a king bed actually have two beds linked together with king sheets over both beds. They can easily be separated into two beds. Just email your desired locations to see if this is the case.

http://www.ilsalottodifirenze.it/en/stanze.php I've stayed here and there is an elevator, although I didn't use it. This place also has North American outlets with 110 voltage which can be useful. Nice rooms, ok breakfast. Great location. I think they might have a couple of sister properties also.

I also recommend airbnb.com You could end up just having a private room for anywhere from 40-100 Euro depending on your needs and when you're going. Getting a lift in a place would usually only be at somewhere like an American Hotel... a Marriott or something on that order, which will be quite expensive. You can be pretty particular with your search on airbnb whether you want a room to yourself or an entire apartment to yourself. We have stayed at some great places in Tuscany through this site as well as homelidays.com which I found out through a RS site somewhere. I'm actually about to go out and look for Florence myself... and in case you don't know you might see it listed the Italian way as Firenze. Happy travels.
