Hello. I have a trip planned to Florence & Tuscany region & Bologna April 16-26. What is the best source of information about the status of roads, rail lines, museums etc. in lieu of the devastating flooding?
There is no flooding in the City of Florence. Besides you are going a month from now.
If it eases your mind a bit, the floods have not had a big impact on our tours that are currently in Florence and Tuscany. Other than minor reroute due to a road closure, we have not had to make changes to the itineraries. At this point in time, we don't expect April trips to be affected in any way,
Thank you so much for your kind attention, Marta.
The flooded areas affected primarily the suburbs of Campi Bisenzio and Sesto Fiorentino. The Arno River in Florence never reached dangerous levels (it was under the second level of alert set at 5,50 mt at monitoring station in front of the Uffizi and for sure it never threatened the entrance of the Uffizi. The Arno River has not been interested in paintings and art since November 1966. It’s not a very sophisticated and educated River.
Everything I don’t know, I learned from the newspapers. The one you posted read Uffizi River monitoring station and thought it was actually inside the museum.
