Hello, has anyone used Flixbus for travel in Italy? I am specifically looking for Turin to Florence. I know it takes longer than the train (3 hours on the train, compared to 5 by bus), but the overall cost savings is over 100 Euros. I would just like to know how your experience was with the bus.
Thank you.
Tania
Sorry if I don't answer to your question, but did you look up train prices also on www.italotreno.it/en ?
Or using only Trenitalia's Intercity and Regional trains via Piacenza and Bologna?
Italo is a private competing company that runs its own trains and that has been selling cheaper tickets than Trenitalia for months.
I have not taken that specific route but I've taken Flixbus one time before from Munich to Salzburg;
and just like you the prices were a lot cheaper than taking the train.
All I can say is the it is a lot better than Greyhound, Eurolines for example as far as comfort and cleanliness is concerned.
The bus arrived on time. hassle free; I did not feel unsafe. It is the best long distance bus service I've ever taken.
It is newer than Eurolines so the buses are not worn. Just like as if you were taking the train anywhere, you have to pay attention at any stops that no one is walking off with your bag.
Flixbus, as well as Uber, is in the middle of a regulatory battle in the Italian Parliament. In the last few days a regulation was passed that could stop Flixbus runs after October 2017, but of course Flixbus is battling it in court. If you have to travel before October Flixbus could be fine, after October you should better inquire again.
Thank you, I will keep an eye on Flixbus. Appreciate your replies. :)
