Flights In August

Unfortunately I missed booking tickets during the holidays for an August trip to Italy. I want to book at least 6 months out. Is it possible to still find deals after January 31 to mid February? I was told that sometimes happens after the 1st of the year when the holiday season dies down. I am tracking to see if I can still find my strike price.

Might prices go down in the next few weeks? It is possible; also possible they will continue to climb.

How far from your 'strike price' are they? Can you economize in some other part of your expenditures to offset the gap?

If you are flying from the US, I would not expect prices in Aug. to decrease significantly. Travelers who have to plan around school schedules are going to put the pressure on prices for July and Aug..

No one knows what airline prices will do. I'm assuming you have Google Flights price alerts set up, and you are flexible on dates and airports.
I have also found just searching on my own every few days can yield positive results. When I found our great business class fares last summer, I found it on my own a day before Google Flight alerts informed me.
Hopefully you have refundable lodging reservations already, or you may have the same issue with hotels.
Good luck!

American Airlines has a non stop flight in/out of Rome close to your price. It's the flight I booked at end of August but booked through British Airways mostly with points. I had looked at American directly first to check pricing etc. so take a look. No idea if early August would be more expensive...could be as it is "peak" season.

It seems that you are also in the Seattle area, like me. I checked out some of the sites mentioned earlier, but decided that Air Canada had the best deals on flights to Rome in August without too much time in lay-over. It is just hard to book so many months in advance, but you can choose an upgrade to allow flight changes. See you in Rome!
