I've found an Alitalia flight to Naples, planning to continue with Veuling to Barcelona and Bilbao, Spain. Several other travelers, including our previous Spain tour guide, suggest EasyJet from PMO, at $100 less. Yes, their aircraft allow only one carryon, charge $15 for checked bag. I despise the baggage-claim scene, pack light, RS-style, always take a regulation-size wheelie and a denim tote. Any comments about this airline? Same question about Veuling.
Peg, when we are do inter EU flights we ALWAYS go to Whichbudget.com and pick one of the lo-cost inter EU airlines. We have never had a problem; unless we violate one of their rules. (their carry-on size is usually much more restrictive than US based airlines) We find them to be a wonderful lo-cost native. Each one details their requirements; luggage weight and size!are very restrictive, but never a problem. One thing that most have in common is the restriction that you can only take one item on board; not a purse and a carry-on; just one item. We always check luggage on these planes and never had a problem. Yes, they charge for every little thing, but the total costs are "cheap". I would probably skip Alitalia; they have the ability to screw everything up, but all others are just great. We have flown on Air One, Vueling (last June), Ryan Air(look out; they fly in and out of obscure airports!), Easy Jet, Air Berlin, etc. The key to having a good experience with these guys is to read their rules!
