Flight (US Airways): PHL to Venice - Any experience?

Anyone take this flight? Seems to be pretty regular. Any insight? Prices seemed reasonable.

We have taken that one a couple of times. No problems with that segment. Left on time and arrived on time. I like flying into VCE, smaller airport and you are right there in Venice.

We have always had good luck with US Air, I know that some people haven't.

If you are connecting through PHL, you might want to leave some extra room for the connection. PHL seems to get backed up sometimes on arrivals.

Same experience as Ron. We liked the smaller, easier airport of Venice as well.

One of the worst flights of my life. We went VCE to PHL. I was traveling with my 3 months old daughter. I had been told that they would have a bassnet to put her in (by t seperate people). I got on the plane and no bassinet. The flight attendent told me that it would have just been a cardboard box if they had one. Rude customer service, which was especially bad at the PHL airport. I booked another flight for next week and paid $700 extra just so I wouldn't have to fly that route.

That's how our Europe trip was initially booked this year. TYS->PHL->VCE

We arrived at the TYS UsAirways ticket counter, and the first thing they said was "Tell me you're not flying international". Of course our answer was yes. Then they said "Tell me you're not the ##### family". Why, yes we were - boy was I scared now.

Our flight to PHL had been cancelled. The attempted to route us to CLT -> FRA -> VCE. We arrived in CLT but the FRA flight had departed without us. We then stood at the "Help Desk" for 1.5 hours with a nice, but totally inept USAirways employee attempting to get us on ANY flight. Finally we got on a flight to London and ended up in that dreaded middle of the center section of seats. Horrible horrible. We eventually made it to VCE - but not our luggage. In fact they had no idea where our luggage was. 4 days later they called me on my international cell phone to tell me they found it and would deliver it to my next destination. Glad to have my luggage - but I'm not happy that I had to spend over $1000 to finally buy all of my necessities and more clothes while in Venice. After all - we didn't know if we would EVER see our luggage again.

I filed paperwork for reimbursement of my expenses, it was approved, and I'm still waiting on my reimbursement check from my June trip.

One thing to check that most people don't is the
"on time preformance" of the flight. Every flight is rated with either a number 1 to 9 or a percentage. If you have a number 8 or 9 that's a good thing. If you have a 40% the flight leaves a little to be desired. Check with your agent or the carrier for the information.

Always, always, always reconfirm your flights even if they say it is not necessary! Good travelers plan for the worst and hope for the best!

Best of luck

Took this flight last October. No problems except for fog in the Venice area that delayed our landing about 45 minutes.

Update on that reimbursement check...got it yesterday! Finally reimbused for $1100 of my vacation money that I instead had to spend on clothes and shoes and underwear...not exactly my idea of a fun European Vacation.

Missed the US Air flight from Phil and was put on a Lufthansa flight. Wish I would of not missed the US Air flight as Lufthansa lost my luggage and I had no clothes for the entire trip. I recieved my luggage 9 days after I returned home!!!! (got a free round trip ticket out of the deal though after I put up a 6 month fight and finally won)!!
