First Time to Italy for Honeymoon in Sept.

Hi, We are planning our honeymoon in Italy starting the first week in Sept. Its a first time visit to Italy for both of us. I work for an airline in the US and we will be flying standby so have to be a little flexible. We both like beautiful scenery and great food and local coffee shops. We want to see some of the amazing historical places but neither of us can handle long lines or long days in museums. Our latest plan is to stay 10-11 days and to fly into Venice and Leave from Rome back to JFK in New York. Our latest tentatve plan is to Stay 2 nights in Venice, take the train to Naples then get up to Positano in the amalfi coast and spend 3 days there. Then take the train up to Rome and spend 5 Days in or around Rome. Then fly home from Rome. We have been looking at nice Bed and Breakfasts with great reviews as an alternative to higher priced hotels. Any help with our Budget for rooms, trains and ideas on our cities we picked and time spent in each would be very helpful. We were also wondering if we should stop in Florence on our way southbound to the amalfi coast. Ideas and reccomendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks ,
Dean and Sasha

If you're saying that you're not positive as to which days you'll be there, I think the key to enjoying your trip is to have all sorts of options available so you can figure it out as you go. I would suggest taking two good guidebooks with you - Rick Steves Italy book and maybe the Rough Guide to Italy. Or were you planning on making reservations in advance? (I couldn't tell from your posting.) It looks to me as if you're planning on staying in three cities, right? Venice, Positano and Rome? Good for you! Too many people try to pack in waaay too many destinations. And those three locations are a really good mix of different types of experiences. Congratulations and happy travels!
