I have booked this hotel for February 2010 - but did see mixed reviews. Booking.com had good recommendations but not that great on TripAdvisor.
Have any of you stayed there?

I have searched the archives of this forum and have found no prior reviews of this hotel here (assuming First of Florence is the exact name of the hotel that would have been used by prior reviewers).

I'm not familiar with that Hotel, so can't offer any suggestions.
I normally use Rick's Guidebooks for Hotel listings, as there are different price ranges, these are located in different parts of each city (so I can choose the area I want to stay) and they're checked out by Rick or his staff at least once a year.
If you decide to stay there, be sure to let us know what your experience is like.

Thank you Ken - yes I will.
I have not purchased the Italy Guide book yet - but have used his books in the past. I find though that most of his recommendations fill up fast...
I will report back after my trip as I find this site so helpful and hopefully I can help someone else.
