Our itinerary is this: Firenze, CT, Greve, Roma
Check out of apartment in Firenze jump on train to CT. From there we will be staying in Greve. We will want a car for Greve and wine area. My question is, Where is the best place to rent a car after CT. La Spezia? And then after our stay in Greve, where should we drop off car to catch high speed train to Roma.... Firenze?

From CT to La Spezia, then train to Pisa.
Pick up your rental car in Pisa.
Return your rental car in Orvieto.
Easy train ride to Rome, albeit not a high speed one.
Unless you want to see Pisa, pick up your car in La Spezia. It will save you time. Firenze to La Spezia to CT town-of-choice; back to La Spezia on train and pick up car; Drive to Greve. If you want to take a Frecciarossa Firenze is your best choice for dropping off the car and continuing to Roma by train.
