Our trip to Florence is not until late September/early October. We will be there for a week and would like to visit some of the big/famous sites including places like the Uffizi Gallery and Accademia Gallery. Many have noted that the Firenze Pass is the most economical for seeing a lot of sites. Asking for experts thoughts on that. Also, once you purchase the Pass, do you still need to call sites to set up reservation times etc? If so, I hope we can also do that online. I apologize if much of this is already accessible online. I know that experts opinions/help have been SO valuable to us in the past!! Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
You have to do the math to see if it’s a good choice for you
We found it useful many years ago
You do still need to book timed entries fior Accademia and Uffizi for sure
It looks like you no longer make reservations for the individual museums. Instead it looks like they will send you tickets via email(?). For the Uffizi it says "Entry is guaranteed for the first available date during your stay in Florence"
Check for exact wording in the FAQs https://www.firenzepass.com/frequent-answered-questions/
Note, this is different than when we went in 2023, so I would read the website carefully for the most up to date information, since others' experiences may not be using the current system. When we were there in 2023, we did have to call for reservations for a specific time slot. Also, back then the pass was good for 3 days, but using the app you automatically got 48 hours more, starting when you wanted to start it, I think now it's just a 5 day pass (again, please double check the website to make sure I'm describing right.)
Sorry, I think the above information is a little misleading, that's about the Firenze Pass. The website is correct, however that's not what we used in 2023. We used the Firenze Card which appears to have the same rules as before, seems to include more museums but is more expensive. Here's the link https://www.firenzecard.it/en
Maybe someone else can shed light on the differences between the firenze card and the Firenze Pass. If I'm reading it correctly, it looks like the Firenze Pass also includes the Cathedral, the baptistry and Giotto Bell tower - these don't appear to be included in the Firenze card. (They weren't included in 2023, and I don't see them on the list.) One possible advantage of the Firenze Card is that you can decide when to start the additional 48 hours, so if you were doing day trips in the middle of your stay in Florence, you could wait to reactivate until you're ready.
