Firenze Card- we didn't have a positive experience

We used Rick Steves' guide to Italy as well as Best of Italy. Great and wonderful advice throughout. That said, we did not have good experiences with the Firenze card. To even buy the card and enter the Uffizi, we were directed to three or four lines in separate buildings. We then had to walk to other buildings to get tickets for our second attraction. When we went to the Accademia, the Firenze card line was equivalently long-and so was the wait- as the regular line. My estimation is that the Firenze card is overpriced, overpromises, and is not incrementally convenient. I respectfully suggest that Rick and his team check to see if our experience is anomalous. Rick's advice to get reservations might work much better. Or, the commercial tour groups that promise appointment times- although more expensive- might be the way to go in overcrowded mercenary Florence. Our trip around Italy brought all the charms and joys that Rick promises and encourages, and everything but the Firenze card delivered more value and enjoyment than we expected.
