Firenze card vs reserved time at Uffizi and Galleria Dell'Accademia

I will have 1 and half days in Florence to go to museums the 1st weekend in July. I have read that Sunday July 2nd is free to all and the museums do not take reservations for that day. I am not so worried about the cost and would spend money to not wait in long lines. Is it best to buy reservations for Saturday and try to fit them both in or buy the Firenze card to use both Saturday and Sunday? Will the Firenze card work on Sunday and allow me to go through a shorter line? If the card works Sunday perhaps it would be worth the cost and allow me to go to other galleries. Thanks!

For the amount of time you have, I would not buy a Firenze card. Also, I would avoid museums on any "free" day due to unbearable crowds. You can get reserved tickets to see statue of David and Uffizi. You can easily do both on Saturday. I would do "David" first thing in morning or last 1 1/2 hours of day. For Uffizi - plan on 2-3 hours. Any more than that and the art just washes over you, becomes brain-numbing. Use the free RS audio download to do a self-tour, to get you through the Uffizi. Review it before you go. It's a well-narrated and planned tour. Sunday - go to some other great site. There's Santa Croce, Santa Maria Novella, the Baptistery, etc..
(Try to do Uffizi after 2 pm if possible. Crowds start diminishing.)

Oops sorry I got the dates wrong. June 30th and July 1st. The 1st Sunday in the month is free I have read. Thanks for suggestions. I thought Sunday might not work for the most popular sites. I will look up your recommendations. Thanks!
