Firenze Card v. Amici Degli Uffizi?

Hello, fellow Florence-lovers,
Our family of 2 adults and one 11 year old are going to Florence in June. We will be there 4 nights, and one of the days is a Monday (when the museums are closed). We are trying to maximize time and euros (isn't everyone?) and want to know about the Firenze Card--72 EUR for all members of the family (no kid discount), vs. the Amici Degli Uffizi, 100 EUR for one family membership. We are thinking MAYBE the Amici pass, then buy tickets to the individual sights not covered by the pass--the Duomo complex, Santa Croce, maybe one of the Leonardo museums and the Galileo museum. We are staying very central, close to the Duomo, so public transportation is really not a draw for us, and the wifi aspect of the Firenze pass is no draw at all. The priority entrance is a huge deal, however, and the sole reason the Firenze Card is still on the table.

If anyone has had this dilemma and a solution, please advise!

Thanks so much!
Debbie

As I remember, the Firenze card is good for 72 consecutive hours -- will that work for you? Uffizi allows for multiple entries to the same museum so you could take it in small doses. (If you are up for that)

I was under the impression that the Firenze card was 72 euros per person, not for the family, and thus the Amici Degli Uffizi was the better option....

Duomo complex = 10E per person,
Santa Croce = 6E per person
Gallileo museum - 22E family ticket
total of 58E for extra tickets not covered by the Amici pass.

Three Firenze cards will be about 216E total whereas the Amici pass will be 100E plus an extra 58E for museums not covered by it. The Amici pass definitely looks like the clear choice here.

The Amici pass does give free privileged admission to the Uffizi and the Accademia. Here is a link to their website with the sites covered: http://www.amicidegliuffizi.it/diventa_socio.php?pg=8&ln=en

I hope this helps some.

Lots of museums in Florence have Monday hours (some just in the morning). Check websites or a guidebook for specifics. Planning Sunday-Monday-Tuesday museum visits in Florence is like a big jigsaw puzzle, but it can be done.

Zoe- any chance you might share the jigsaw solution? :)

We get to Florence tomorrow night, so Sun-Mon-Tues are our days.

Mille Grazie!

Oh- are there any major sites we could see Sat evening? if so, we can get into Florence by 4:00 by pushing Pisa to later in our trip.

Thanks again

I thought I saw that the Uffizi only allow 4 people with the card to enter every 15 minutes. Did I misread that?

We got the Amici card. We were there for a week in January, so it was a very good deal. The big advantage to me was that the Amici allowed repeat entrances and the Firenze pass only allowed one entrance at the time. We went to the Uffizi several times. It is big and I admit that I am an art freak.

We were always admitted immediately, but it was January.
