Firenze card policy changes?

I just heard that the skip-the-line priority for the card holders is not available anymore for several main sights, including Accademia, Uffizi Gallery. Could someone please confirm this news? If this is true, I am not sure if it is worth buying the card, or just booking skip-the-line tickets? Could someone share their experience or analyses with the group,please? Thanks..

As I understand it, "skip-the line" access is available IF you make an advance reservation. IMHO, that defeats much of the purpose of the Firenze Card - the flexibility of going to the Uffizi and Accademia whenever you feel like it.

But I have a couple of "with that saids":

First - Even with the Firenze Card, the first time we tried to get into the Uffizi, we decided that the Firenze Card line was too long, so we went to the Bargello instead (which was awesome).

Second - There are a lot of museums covered by the Firenze Card, and only two of them have overwhelming crowds. We did not visit the Duomo - so I won't comment on access to those attractions. If you are a museum freak/whore to culture - the Firenze Card is still a bargain.

But, if you just want to see the Uffizi and the Accademia, you are better off making reservations for just those two attractions.

Thanks for the reply. We are going to visit Florence from April 26 to 29 and I guess I’d better buy Firenze card and make reservations for these two sights by phone then. Hope there is still opening space for us during this period of time.

True. You must make a reservation if using the pass at the Uffizi, Accademia and for the dome of the. Duomo. See the FAQ section of the Firenzecard website:

Do I need to make reservations for the Uffizi and Accademia Gallery
with Firenzecard? Yes, you need. To enjoy the priority access is
required a free reservation to make:

1) calling the multilingual call center Firenze Musei to phone number
+ 39 055-294883 (from 8.30 to 18.30 from Monday to Friday; from 8.30 to 12.30 on Saturday), providing your fist and last name. Closed
Sunday and holidays. You will receive by phone a code to show at the
ticket offices of Orsanmichele, My Accademia and Uffizi to collect
your booking confirmation. You have to show your booking confirmation
and your Firenzecard at the priority access doors of the museums;

2) in Florence at one of the following ticket offices, showing your
Firenzecard: Orsanmichele (Orsanmichele Church, Via dei Calzaiuoli,
from Monday to Saturday 9.00-16.15; Closed Sunday and holidays); My
Accademia (via Ricasoli n.105/r, from Tuesday to Sunday 8.15-17.30;
Closed Monday); Uffizi (door n.2 and n.3, from Tuesday to Sunday
8.15-18.05; Closed Monday);

3) at the ticket offices of Uffizi Gallery, Bargello National Museum,
Palazzo Pitti, when you purchase Firenzecard. In this case you can
make directly the reservation at the ticket office at the moment of
purchase and collect the booking confirmation to show at the priority
access doors of the museums. Please note that you have to make the
free reservation also for the kids under 18 years old who are members
of the same family unit of the Firenzecard holder.

Instructions for making a reservation for the dome is on that page as well.
