Firenze Card Fee

In Rick's 2013 edition of his Florence and Tuscany guide, the price of the Firenze card is listed as 50 euros. The Firenze card's website lists the price for online purchase as 72 euros. I am wondering if the difference is a premium for online purchasing, or if the fee has jumped to 72 euros regardless of online vs. on site purchase?

Yes, the price of the card went up to 72E. I'm not buying one now...we considered it at 50E, but 72E is not worth it for the 3-4 sights we want to see next month in Florence. I'll have my hotel front desk make skip the line reservations for me, or book the individual sights on line before we depart the US. you've have to spend all your time in 72 hours inside buildings to get your money's worth from the card now!

Ellen,
Thanks for confirming my info. I agree, at 72 euros for a few days/site visits, it is pricey. Gulp!

Oh poo.... I really liked the Firenze card, thought it was great actually. Felt like I got my money's worth being there three full days. At 72 euros I'd not buy it now. Of course I've been there several times so I'd be happy picking and choosing my favorites. Perhaps if there's a real drop off in sales the authorities in charge will rethink this (much laughter here). Nothing like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs:)

yes, it is too bad they had to raise the price. Was in Florence in July with my 2 sisters and niece and we were all set to buy the Firenze Card but not at 72 Euros. It was my 5th visit to Florence and the others had been a number of times so with the price increase we decided against it. At the 50 Euro price we had figured we would have about broken even but not at the 72 Euro price. IMHO that is quite a large price increase! Besides the fact that it is good for 3 days you must plan any daytrips out of Florence around this.

Suggest you look into Friends of the Uffizi (the Italian site, not their US counterpart). I don't think their price has gone up. Their membership will get you into the state museums free, with no line/reservation, but won't work on transportation. It's valid for a Jan-Dec year, as I recall, and it lets you bring a guest when I last used it. But do check the specifics, since it may also have changed. I joined and paid from the US (via PayPal) and then picked up my card at the Uffizi when I arrived.

The Uffizi and Accademia cost 10.5 euro each with reservation.
The Bargello costs smthg like 4 or 5 Euro. The Firenze Card is definitely not worth it. If you happen to be in Florence during European Heritage week, you can enter all museums for free.

The cheapest tickets to Uffizi I could find are for this October, at 21,5 E. Where can I find them for less?
