Firenze Card Confusion

Hi Everyone,
Hoping someone could help clear something up for me:

I was planning to buy the Firenze card in order to get access to the major museums and also the Duomo (including the climb and Giotti's Tower).

It now says though that the Duomo and the tower still require reservations. When I go to the reservation site, it says it's 20 euro per person to do so.

My first question is: If I buy a Firenze card now online, can I then make Duomo reservations at no additional cost? Or do I still have to pay the 20 euro? It seems that a lot of the popular times are filling up (I'm traveling there in late April) so I feel like I need to make reservations soon, but I don't want to pay double if I don't have to.

Bonus question: The Firenze website also says that the Accadamie no longer offers priority access with the Firenze card....does that mean I'd have to wait in the long line? Pay for a reservation to skip the line??

Thanks everyone!

You should probably re-thing the usefulness of buying the Firenze Card.

1) Cardholders cannot reserve the dome climb until arrival in Florence:

The only way to climb the Duomo's dome is to make a reservation. You can buy the €18 combo-ticket in advance online and make a dome-climb reservation at www.museumflorence.com. Dome climb time slots can fill up days in advance, so reserve well ahead.

All these sights are also covered by the Firenze Card, but you must first present your card at the ticket office opposite the Baptistery (look for a priority queue) to obtain a free combo-ticket and (if you're lucky) reserve a time for the dome climb.

2) Yes, I believe that change at the Accademia means that Firenze Card holders either pay 4 euros to reserve an entrance time or else stand in the line for people without reservations.

The priority access to the Uffizi and Accademia via Firenze card was definitely useful and worked. However, I’m not sure you get real value from it unless you are planning on seeing a lot of sights. The major sights have their own online reservations systems.

With the card, and early in the day, we still had to wait at the Baptistry and Duomo. It seems like the one thing EVERYONE in Florence was trying to see.
