Firenze card app questions

Hi. I’m traveling to Florence in about 4 weeks with a friend whose phone doesn’t have enough memory for the Firenze card app. (Yes, she needs a new phone, but she’s not getting one before we go.). Two questions:

1) Does anyone happen to know if I can put both her and my cards on the app on my phone?

2) If the answer is yes, could she use the paper version for the first three days? And then we would register her card on my app when it was time to get the extension?? This would be better so that she could go where she wanted for the first three days at least!!!!

Thank you!

It's been almost 10 years since we used the Firenze Card- so no app back then!

But if you can use either paper or app- why not just use paper the whole time?

I'm guessing the issue here is that you're both wanting to take advantage of the free 48-hour restart, and that is only possible with an iOS or Android smartphone / tablet with the app installed. So, that wouldn't be possible for your friend if she is using a physical 72-hour pass.

1) Does anyone happen to know if I can put both her and my cards on
the app on my phone?

Yes. When you click the "buy" button, you choose the number of cards you want and provide ID info for each pass holder. Now, if the passes are only on your phone, this means that you'll have to do all of your sightseeing together, at least for attractions you'll be using the card for.

If she intends to use a physical pass for the first 72, hours, the website says this about "buying" the re-start:

Firenzecard Restart can be purchased only online at www.firenzecard.it.
To purchase it, you must enter:
1) the number of your Firenzecard that you wish to reactivate;
2) the email used to purchase the original Firenzecard online or purchase date in case of purchase at a sales point in the city.

So, it sounds to me like with just her card's # and purchase date in Florence, you could indeed activate an extension for her. Aside from all of this, you are aware that you need make a timed-entry reservations for the Uffizi, Accademia and Brancacci Chapel even if using the card?

You're welcome, Leah! And heaven forbid should anything I told you be wrong, please come back and clobber me! Still, I didn't see anything on the website to the contrary, and it would make sense that, say, couples traveling together are likely to make a single purchase for two on one phone versus on separate devices.

I'm happy to see someone planning to use the 48-hour extension! IMHO, that adds significantly to the value of the card if a visitor has that amount of time - 5 days and then some, depending on when you start using it - in fascinating Florence. You also don't have to run as hard to make good on the value as you otherwise might with just 72 hours to get it all in, and allows time for attractions NOT covered by the pass - such as the ticketed duomo structures - without feeing like you're losing $.

An insane amount of treasures to see there.... Have a great trip!
