Firenze Card and Duomo

I understand holders of the Firenze Card can also get into Duomo sites.

I've also read reports from visitors that say they still had to get in line for a ticket. Is this true? If so, where is the ticket booth, and do Firenze Card holders wait in line or go to the front (skip the line)?

Also, IS part of the Duomo Museum available to view--mainly the Gates of Paradise original doors.

Thanks!

Yes, the card covers the Baptistry, Tower, Dome and Crypt, and yes, you have to get tickets. Here's the info from the Firenze card website:

"For visiting Baptistery, Dome, Bell Tower and Crypt you have to go to the ticket office in Piazza San Giovanni 7 (R), you have to show your Firenzecard and to collect the free ticket to put in the automatic turnstiles."

You can see where the office is on this map; it's the one on the north side of the piazza:

According to the Duomo's website, the entire museum is closed until November 2015:

I'm just unsure enough about the ticket line situation that it would be best for other members to weigh in on that one.

The longest lines in the Duomo complex are for climbing the dome or the campanile, and Rick says that the Firenze Card allows you to skip those lines. After stopping to get your ticket/voucher for entry, I believe you then walk to the front of the stair-climbing line and show your Firenze Card to the staff.
