We just arrived in Florence and bought our Firenze Card. This month (and maybe April we were told) the Accademia is not allowing visitors with the Firenze Card to skip the main ticket-buying line; everyone must wait in one queue. If you are visiting, you might want to reserve in advance. The Uffizi Gallery is not impacted.
This notice appeared on the Accademia's website recently:

"Notice Firenze Card possessors
We inform that from April 2nd, 2019, to access the Museum as a priority it is necessary to reserve the entrance in advance, without additional costs, by contacting the Florence Museums call center or the dedicated office."
So, reserving a timed-entry spot will now be mandatory if using the card.
