Firenze card

The last time I was in Florence, we had purchased reservations ahead of time and still had to stand in line at least an hour for the Accademia and the Uffizi. Rick makes it sound like you just walk right in at with the Firenze Card, but others here have stated they still had to stand in line. I'm not sure we sill have time for a lot of museums but we were going to get the card to miss the lines. Now I wonder if it is really worth it. We will be there September 2, 3, 4. To card or not to card???

If you're not returning to those same two museums, then you'll find shorter or no ticket lines at other museums, and less necessity for them to apply capacity controls. I can't imagine a Firenze Card holder getting priority over a reservation holder but in some cases they would be using the same entrance or line. Any back-up at the security check point is always a separate issue, no matter how you buy the ticket.

Hello,

I bought the Firenze Card for my recent 3-day trip to Florence, and I achieved considerable money & time savings by doing so. Out of the 11 sites that I visited, the Firenze Card allowed me to skip the line at every location except the Basilica di San Lorenzo. Also, by purchasing the Firenze Card, you don't need to make reservations at the museums that require reservations (Uffizi, Accademia, etc.).

Consider the following:
1) Will you spend all 3 days in Florence?
2) How many sites do you plan to see? Calculate the cost of all those sites and determine if the entrance fees are less than, equal to, or more than the cost of the Firenze Card. If more, then it's automatically a good investment.
3) How much time are you willing to spend in long lines during a very busy time of year for touring Florence? My time is equally as valuable as budgeting costs, and investing in the Firenze Card meant that I could enjoy wandering the city streets and taking in more local experiences rather than dealing with long lines of tourists.

Congrats on your upcoming trip to Florence. I am confident you will enjoy the experience!
