Firenze Card (museum pass and transportation)

I have discovered a pass on firenzecard.it that entitles the user access to 30 museums in Florence at a discounted rate and free bus/tram rides. It sounds like a great deal. The site boasts that the user will avoid queues and booking and reservation limitations. It's fairly new and not listed in Rick's books. Has anyone purchased this pass and used it this year? ........and with the popularity of the Ufizzi, if you used the pass here, did you really avoid a reservation?

Hi Carol, it's a brand new program by the city of Florence for all the state run sites along with a few others. Keep in mind the card is only valid for 72 hours. You might also consider the Friends of the Uffizi card if you are going to be in town longer, which does not cover transportation, but offers yearlong access to the sites. And you won't need a reservation with either card. Happy travels!

It looks reasonable. You might not save but it is convenient. If there are no special exhibits on during your stay (the general admission prices are higher when there's an exhibition instead of selling separate exhibit tickets), you might be hard put to make it worthwhile. It says 72 hours, so maybe if you start on Day 1 at, say, 10 am, you could enter another museum on Day 4 at 9 am, thus stretching it out. It really isn't clear how that would work out. Florence is so small, I never used public transportation, just walked from place to place, so I am having trouble figuring out how that part would help.

I think the transportation part works if you are going out to Fiesole (or some other outlying areas), or have mobility issues that would prevent you from doing lots of walking. We plan on using the Firenze Card in September. Like others have said, if you are staying longer than 72 hours, or are planning multiple trips to Florence in the coming year, the Friends of Uffizi pass is a better deal.

It is possible, but unlikely, that one would make full use of the card, and indeed even save money, but you would have to be a huge art fan. The real reason the card was introduced this year has more to do with public finances rather than any benevolence or philanthropy on the part of Comune di Firenze....see also the Tourist...sorry, City Tax that you will be paying when you arrive. Please shoot me down anyone who has got superb value from their Firenze Card.
