I will be in Florence for a week the end of June. I want to just see the duomo, academia and uffizi. Is the Firenze card worth the cost to these places? Can you get in faster with the card or do you still need to stand in long lines?
Thanks!
End of June is a crazy-crowded time in Florence. And the three sites you reference are likely at the TOP of every tourist's list. You can count on l-o-n-g lines at the Uffizi and Accademia, with slightly shorter ones at the Duomo. Economically speaking, if you're really only going to visit these three venues - and not see all the other wonderful places Florence has to offer - it's cheaper in that instance to make a reservation online for Uffizi and Accademia galleries (with specific times), and queue up for Duomo access about an hour before they open [Museum opens at 9:00, the Cathedral itself at 10:00, and the Baptistry interior at 11:15]. But you'll lose the freedom/flexibility to 'pop in' to other places without having to wait (Palazzo Vecchio, Bargello Museum, Medici Chapels, Santa Croce, Pitti Palace, Orsan-Michele, Museum of San Marco, Galileo Science Museum... all covered by Firenze Card). You mentioned being there for a week-long stay, if it were me I'd get the card and not think twice. :)
