Firenze and Roma passes for kids?

I will be in Florence and Rome in August for 3 days each with my 2 kids (age 7 and 13). I am having trouble determining if Firenze and Roma passes are available, needed, or economical for the kids? we plan to see all the major sites and museums in both places. Would they already be covered under my pass? Or do kids get in free/discounted to some of the sites? Any advice would be appreciated.

As of a few weeks ago the rules changed and anyone under 18 is now admitted for free to state owned sites. This means your kids won't need the pass. You will still need tickets or the pass for anyone 18 and over so do the math to see if the pass will save you money Donna

Thanks Donna. Where can I find this information? The Florence Card site says that kids are free only for card EU citizens under 18 when a family member has a Florence Card.

I can't help with the Florence card but I know that in Rome all kids "under" 18 are free to state run sites. This does not include all sites, just the state run sites. I know the romapass website has not been updated with this new policy but the policy is in place and being honored in Rome. Donna
