Fine Dining in Venice

Does anyone have any fine dining recommendations for Venice? Thanks,

"Le Maschere" Restaurant at the San Clemente Palace Hotel (http://www.sanclementepalacevenice.com/en/), a luxury 5-star hotel located on San Clemente Island in the Venice Lagoon. We stayed at the hotel in 2005, but from the website it doesn't look like things have changed much. I would suggest checking Trip Advisor or other web sites to confirm the quality of late. We have been travelling to Europe for approximately 20 years and consider this to be among the best restaurants we have ever dined at.

I can recommend Trattoria da Fiore a few steps away from Santo Stefano Church. The restaurant is warm and inviting, the food is wonderful and the wait staff will make you feel like family. I ate there twice on a recent visit. I had sea bass on a bed of fresh vegetables and pasta bolognase. They also have a nice selection of wine. There is a small bar attached to the restaurant and I think it is popular
with the locals.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "fine dining," but if you're looking for great food, fresh and well-prepared but with a creative twist, consider Alla Testiere. It's a tiny place, the owner and chef are helpful and kind, but it's not fancy and formal.

Locanda Montin in the San Trovaso area is excellent. It has been there since the 1940's, has great food, and a garden area for outdoor dining is available in good weather. It is not easy to find but they have a website with a map and you can google for information. We dine there on every trip to Venice-unfortunately those trips are not often enough.

Just ate at La Zucca last week and we were wowed by it. Not overly expensive, but creative food well prepared. Lots of reviews on Trip Advisor so look it up there. It's near the church of San Giacomo dell'Orio, quiet and off the beaten path.
