I am travelling with an elderly parent on a cruise ship . .we will stop for a day in Florence and it seems that the rented van is the best way to go since my parent can't walk long distances. However we don't know anyone else on the ship. How would we find 6 other people to share a minivan with us for a day's tour.

We joined people on 2 different van tours on a cruise a couple of years ago. It was much more comfortable than the bus tours through the cruise line.

We got to know some of the people we were going to be traveling with on a cruise forum. We just posted the cruise and dates and chatted with people. We ended up meeting them for drinks.
