Final day in Milan

Looking for an idea(s) for our final day in Milan before we fly back to the States. Our itinerary had included 2 days in Milan upon arrival, then Lake Como for a couple of days, then a week at Lake Garda. Originally thought we would stay at airport hotel, but then realized it would be nice to have a special afternoon, evening meal before flying out the next day. Would certainly be open to an AirBNB in a lovely neighborhood closer to airport, but with some gentle, but interesting things to do AND eat. Thanks

We stayed at the Hotel Gran Duca di York in Milan the night before our mid-morning flight home. It worked out well. No need to stay near the airport unless you have a very, very early flight home. We spent 3 nights in Milan upon arrival, and then one night before departure day. This was part of a 5-week trip, so we were exhausted by the end of our trip. So on our final day in Milan, we just walked around the neighborhood near the Duomo and the Galleria, took some photos, and had dinner. If you have more energy than us, you could visit one of the many museums in Milan, such as the Pinacoteca di Brera.

If this is your first time in Milan, I’d stay near the Duomo. The facade is absolutely spectacular, and by staying nearby you’ll have the chance to see it several times under different lighting. It’s one of those places worth seeing more than once.

Yes, we also enjoyed the hotel and restaurant Osteria della Pista! Their shuttle doesn't go super early to the airport, but it's a quick taxi ride.
