It is in the hills east of Rome. According to the NYTimes this little town wants to become an independent monarchy. It has printed its own currency and commissioned a national anthem. All of this in reaction to the national austerity program which compels towns smaller than 1,000 pop to merge with neighboring towns to meet the 1,000 pop minimum. I am thinking that this might make for a day trip.
