There is a group of us renting a villa in Panzano, near Greve in Chianti, in September. Some of us are coming from the US and flying into Florence, renting a car, and driving to Panzano. Some of the group is flying into Rome, spending time there, then going to Panzano and the villa. I see there are trains from Rome to Figline at various times. But if they get to Figline before we get there in cars, is there a way to get from Figline to Panzano? I will ask the owner of the villa the same question, but she has limited English....I don't want something lost in translation. Any suggestions? My thought is for them to take a late train, giving us time to pass customes, pick up the car, drive to the villa, unload, and then collect them at Figline. But if the plane is late or we get delayed, I would hate for them to sit at the station wondering what is happening.
Why Figline? Florence or Siena are more convenient.
I thought timing would be an issue in Sienna and Florence. We are renting two cars at the airport....with 5 people and luggage, not sure if we could fit two more people and luggage in the cars in Florence. Figline looked about 10 k or so from Greve, which would save us a trip back to Florence or down to Sienna to pick up the two from Rome. I don't know if there is a taxi in Figline....and if it would go to Greve or Panzano. I see there are regional trains from Rome that stop in Figline. This is our first venture into this part of Italy and while I love going, the devil is in the details and I am lousy at working those out!
