Festa Del Redentore ~ Venice

We are lucky enough to be in Venice for July 16 which is the date for the Festa Del Redentore which sounds very exciting. We, of course, would like to find a restaurant near the water where we can have a nice meal and then watch the fireworks. A number of places have special menus that night and we understand that the prices will increase accordingly. However, I am not sure we want to spend 200 euros each for this. Has anyone attended this festival in the past? What are some creative options to keep the cost down a bit. Grazie!

It is truly beautiful and fun! The fireworks are late so eating reasonably is not a problem. Just eat earlier and not along the Grand Canal. I've never noticed price increases. I like hanging out with the very polite crowd in Piazza San Marco.

Thanks for your response! Our B&B recommended a few places to us but most have the set menu which they and TripAdvisor comment on as being more pricey than usual. Kind of like when you go out for New Year's Eve and it costs a bit more. We totally understand this. I was just curious about what others had done and if suggestions for specific eateries were available. Can't wait for July!!

Hmm, honestly I never saw prices increased in the many years I was there for Redentore. Last year I ate wonderfully at Art Blu Caffè near the Academia Bridge. Regular menu, regular prices.

Can you see the fireworks from there? Or did you mean you just ate there and left to wander around? We are open to all ideas but just want to make sure we're comparing similar things. Thanks Robert!

Sorry but I've been away from this site for a few days. Yes, I ate at Art Blu (do that regularly when I'm in Venice) and then walked to San Marco. You can see the fireworks best from San Marco. Crowded? Yes but somehow I never felt it. It always feels like everyone is there to enjoy the show. Hope you do too!

We too will be in Venice during the Rendentore. Anxious to hear suggestions! And looking so forward to being a part of this event!
