Ferry travel Naples to Sorrento

Can anyone confirm if you can take a one-way Ferry from Naples to Sorrento. The website for Alilauro S.p.A. doesn't indicate I can go 1
way, because it won't give me a price for two adults with luggage.

You definitely can. They are frequent (like at least every two hours) and cheap (10-15 eruo). Don't know if you can book them on line. We just showed up and go on the next ferry that was leaving.

Thank you ladies, confirming what it looked like on Google Maps and their timetables also. But when I go to their site do you know if you can travel with two backpacks and a small suitcase?

We did it with two smallish suitcases and two back packs. There was plenty of space and we were traveling in July. We got the schedule after we arrived in Naples and bought tickets the day of.

It is a fast ferry which means you are inside like in a plane. I was disappointed by that. You arrive down a cliff from sorrento. We took a bus up.

Thank you all for your information. We're doing a big circle trip... Venice down the coast to Bari, over to Naples getting on the boat the same day to Sorrento. Then over to Amalfi back to Rome up to Sienna & Florence doing a few wine tours from both. Any suggestions on stays in Sorrento and Amalfi? Where should we spend most of the time?

No problem with luggage but there is a per-suitcase surcharge of €2 per bag (see the link I provided above: scroll down to "luggage"). I don't think that applies to hand luggage, such as your backpacks, if they're not large.

We liked Antiche Mura hotel in Sorrento. No sea view but a nice garden with a pool and bar for kicking back with a beverage at the end of the day. Great staff, good breakfast, and easy walk from the train station. It is located in the main part of town, on top of the cliffs, so you'll need to take a bus or cab from the port if arriving by boat.

Thank you for your input on the hotel in Sorrento and the ferry schedule site. I'm looking into airbnb's on the Amalfi Coast also, I know they can be expensive booking through regular sites. But the Amalfi Coast looks a lot more impressive then Sorrento, so we may be spending an extra night there.

Before you book on the AC, make sure you know what you want to see first. Sorrento is the transportation hub of the area. It proves very time consuming to see Pompeii, Herculaneum, and anything in Naples from Positano, or Amalfi.
If you plan to split your time, do the AC first so you don't have to backtrack to Sorrento. Another option would be to train to Salerno then ferry/bus to the village of your choice. Ending in Sorrento.

Thank you for the input I'll keep it in mind. I do plan on using Sorrento for a day or two to go to Vesuvius and Pompeii. But then we're going to take the bus to just stay on the Amalfi Coast for 2 days. After that we're going to take the train/bus to Rome via Salerno.
