Ferry to Sicily

I want to take a rental 9-passenger van on the ferry from Villa San Giovanni or Reggio di Calabria to Sicily. I am looking for: a car ferry weekend schedule for a Saturday or Sunday departure in June, which town to depart from, cost for van and passengers, where to buy tickets and is reservation required in the busy summertime.

The thing runs back and forth every half hour or so between Messina and San Giovanni. I'm not even sure you can get a reservation. Once we had to wait for the next one, but then we were almost alone. Try either gotaormina.com. or directferries.co.uk. Also make sure you get the right outfit. There's another one that I think takes only foot pax, but you can't miss the car line-up and you can see the ferries chugging in and out.

No reservations needed, there are frequent ferries between Messina and V. San Giovanni.

Thank you Ed and Andre. I found the gotaormina website very helpful. Is a 9-passenger van considered a caravan or autobus? Also, the schedule looks the same for everyday of the week with departures every 40 minutes. I did not see a difference for the weekend. Sound right to you? Thanks so much!

It sounds exactly right or so close I couldn't argue. A caravan is a travel trailer.
