Ferry to Positano from Naples or Salerno ??

We will arrive into Naples by train at 5:05 on June 3. I have heard that the ferry is a wonderful experience into Positano !

Is it more exciting to go into Salerno and take a ferry/boat from there ??

What websites do you use to find schedules for evening ferries/boats???

Thank you!

The ferries do not appear to travel after 5 or 6.

Has anyone taken a ferry from Naples or Salerno in the early evening ? Are these the only contacts out there for ferry service times ?

I will research these too. We just need to know that there are early evening ferries if we plan to train down to Salerno....

Otherwise, we will just train to Sorrento and bus to Positano.

The ferry just looked like so much fun and we hoped that the timing would work !

We took the ferry from Salerno to Sorrento with a 2 hour stop at Positano. We sat in a beachside bar, drank a bottle of wine, watched the World Cup and dines on the cold buffet. It was wonderful! You get to see the towns from the water and it is beautiful and very relaxing on the boat. I'd recommend it highly if you can time it right.

I like the view on the Amalfi Coast side compared to the Sorrento side, but yes, the ferries don't run that late......maybe you should look into arriving earlier, or taking a boat on another time in your stay.....it would be better light as well to see the coast with an earlier arrival!

Carla, Gescab doesn't have an English version.
The Salerno schedule isn't posted on that site because boats aren't currently running. Otherwise, they're pretty easy to figure out. If there's a word or phrase you simply can't make out, use on online translator; it may not be perfect but it's usually close enough to grasp the meaning.

For instance, look at the Sorrento- Capri schedule? "Giornaliero" means the boat runs at that time every day. "Feriale" is weekdays only.

"Ordinario su corse OSP" means it's a required public service run, and "Ordinario" is an extra run (not required of the line) so ticket prices are a little bit higher. "Bagagli" is a luggage charge. Looks like there'es also a 1.50 PP euro surcharge. "Solo Andata" is one way, and "Andata e Ritorno" is round trip.

Anyway, you get the idea?
