Ferry to Capri wow so expensive!

So I am going to Capri in June. 200 dollars for a round trip trip for 4 people. Wow that’s shocking.
What does everyone else do? It says the last ferry is at 6:45pm. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance!

That is $50 per person. What were you expecting? It is about 45 mins, as I remember, so I think that is reasonable for the distance.

Yes, it's expensive. Yes, people pay it; Capri is an expensive destination. I would recommend figuring the total price Sorrento>Capri RT for 2 adults and 2 kids (if yours are young enough to qualify) if you haven't already done so to see where it shakes out? Your situation would be even more expensive as you're also looking at Gianni's 3-hour boat trip out of Capri. Gianni's gets great reviews but a lot of folks just explore Capri on foot on their own (we did, over our 2 nights on the island).

Yes, the last boat out is currently at 18:45. It's possible a few later departures could be added for high season.

I'll throw this out if you might be willing to commit to entire day? Take a look at the RS Mondo shared Capri tour from Sorrento:

https://www.sharedtours.com
90.00 euros is not a bad price for a full day including water transfer by small private boat to and from Capri, 4 hours to land-explore on your own, a narrated cruise around the island, and swimming if conditions allow. Drinks and snack included. Personally, I would skip the Blue Grotto: extra cost and will eat up too much time. It's sort of a tourist trap anyway.

Otherwise, Capri is not difficult to explore on your own if you want to dispense with tour $$ altogether and have just ferry tickets be your biggest cost commitment. You can shave the few euros of reservation fee off if you buy tickets at the dock but I would AT LEAST want to have tickets in advance for the last boat out as IT WILL BE FULL and you don't want to get stuck. Not only is it an expensive day trip, it's a very popular one.

yolie,

I can't remember what I paid, but the price sounds reasonable for return tickets for four people. Where did you get your prices? Using the weblink that Kathy provided, the highest rate would be €41 PP return or €164, which is US$184.20 at today's exchange rates.

Be sure that you're back at Marina Grande in time to connect with the last boat of the day, as it doesn't wait. There can sometimes be a long queue at the Funicular that goes down to the dock. If that's the case, I'd suggest using one of the open top taxis - https://images.app.goo.gl/LM2XWK1zqcut2Vzf9 .

If you plan on exploring the island, you may find this website helpful - https://www.capri.com/en/getting-around .
