Was wondering if the ferries run all year long in Lake Como. Planning on staying in Varrena and want to use the mid lake ferries to Bellagio etc and the ferry schedule on their website is only for summer. They say schedule ends Oct 4th, I will be there the 10th of Oct,2015.

Yes they do. The schedule changes with the seasons, obviously more in high season.

We were in Varenna last October, a day or 2 before the schedule changed. There are 2 ferries, one for passengers only & another one for cars & passengers. We thoroughly enjoyed cruising the mid-lake before disembarking in Bellagio.
I'd suggest getting the day pass if you choose to cruise the mid-lake, as you can embark & disembark all day long!
Hopefully the weather will hold off for you. We enjoyed 2 sunny days and one drizzly, foggy day.
Many of the hotels close down for the winter, starting around the beginning of November through mid-March, due to the weather.
