Ferry's to Ischia / Corsica - Are they efficient & easy (included a car)

Looking to visit Ischia, Corsica (or both), and wanted to hear others experiences if the onboarding/off boarding was efficient (especially with a car, although it will probably stay parked in Ischia)

This will also be a family trip with our kids (6 and 8) in early June.

I purposely am looking at the smaller ports for each (Pozzouli and Piombino (via elba)) I'm aware of all the route times from the different Ferry providers, but what are the "real" times, and there is always possibility of delays. If each port day is an entire day affair, it may not be worth it. However, these locations work well with our itinerary (working our way up from the South of Italy). I was also playing with the idea of taking the overnight ferry from Corsica to the Toulon to get to Provence.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prior experience.

Ischia is heaven, but taking a car across is prohibitive, both moneywise and convenience wise.

The ferry takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on whether you get the hydrofoil or not. Many trips each day, and they throw the ropes pretty much at the departure time. Beer on board, but you won't have time for many.

Beaches and spas are fun, food is great, and climbing Mt. Epomeo was the highlight of our trip (lunch on top of an extinct volcano--what could possibly go wrong?)

Reconsider the car, though.

Make sure your car rental contract does not prohibit ferries.
