We will be traveling in Italy this spring and need a round trip ferry boat between Naples and Capri (May 9-13.) We have been to Capri before, but from Sorrento. Our concern is that it will be much more crowded on the Naples route. Should be book the ferry ride way in advance? THANKS
In Naples, we walked to the dock area and bought our tickets to Capri a day ahead. It wasn’t necessary. Leaving Capri for Sorrento, our hotel front desk obtained our ferry tickets for us.
No need to reserve anything.
Often they do not sell ferry tickets the day in advance if there is the slightest chance of rough seas. Never had any trouble buying ferries around Italy same day - although might have to wait in a line, then wait for the boat to come. The main problem to be concerned with is to make sure you can get back if you are making a day trip. There might be a single return trip which leaves earlier than you might like.
Thanks to all for your replies, advice and reassurance! Happy Travels.
