ferry/hydrofoil Naples to ischia

Hi all,

I am heading from Rome to Ischia on 31st May and returning to Naples on 3rd June. I can work out the trains from Rome to Naples but was just after some advice re the sea crossing. Both my kids get sea sick if stuck inside. Is the faster hydrofoil all enclosed? May still go with Hydrofoil because we are staying in Forio. My main question is do we need to prebook the ferry tickets or are we going to be ok just turning up? My concern is that we have a problem on the train or knowing us get lost going from the train station to the port.

You could take a taxi to the port and not have to worry about being lost. Last time I took the hydrofoil, it had inside seating, and I bought the ticket just before boarding. Same for the ferry. That was a few years ago.

Use the Alibus to transit between the train station and the port. Cost is 3 euro/4euro if purchased on the bus. Pick up is right outside the station. travel time 15-20 min.
